First, Ds2 has meaningful weapon durability. (so there are spots you'll need a backup) Second, damage type really matter. You want strike damage for armored opposition. The Sea Bow is the one with the lowest DEX requirement that has decent STR scaling. The Composite Bow is slightly better and easier to acquire. Dragonrider Bow is the slowest regular bow but has by far the best STR scaling and damage.Best long term (and perhaps short tern as well) is Explorer IMO. It has the highest starting Agility so it can get the best roll the fastest. It is the very middle of the pack for starting HP. It has 6/6 for STR/DEX and 5/5 for INT/FTH, a total of 22 points spend in damage dealing stats.I try to stay under 30% for the best roll possible, but you could easily go full tank. Your weapon slots total to a measely 6.3 units, so you can really back on the poise if you want to. The last ring slot I use for utility. Usually a serpent ring or the ever-important Ring of Life Protection. My current build: Starting Class - Sorcerer SL ...So a Str-build works good there. For the other two DLC's a Dex build is totally fine. To make it easiy you could go for a Rapier+Leo ring. The poise of those enemies isn't that high, so you can easily stunlock them with 2-handed attacks and benefit from the counter damage. This would most likely be won by a build by about 0.5-1.0% since there are far to many builds out there that work to give an accurate stab at.The greatsword +10 (duh) and a drangleic shield, for armor I'm using the aurous set until I get my vit high enough to use eitehr havel or drangleic. Stats is focused on getting that 50 STR, enough END to swing at least 4 times (currently at 20) and VIT to carry your equipment and avoid fat rolls.
